Andy Hannah, CEO
In 2014, Andy and Team founded Othot. Andy has also been named a Senior Advisor and Faculty member of the International Institute of Analytics and was appointed an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship and Analytics and an Entrepreneur In Residence at Pitt Business. His primary responsibilities in these roles include developing and delivering curriculum at the intersection of analytics and entrepreneurship, mentoring students that are creating new ventures, fostering an entrepreneurial environment, and developing a concept for graduates to be leaders in the blossoming business analytics field.
Andy has been an entrepreneur since 1995, a calling that has stayed firmly with him ever since. He has played leading C-Level roles at four high tech start-ups over the past two decades and the resulting perspectives, learnings and expertise are the cornerstones of his endeavors.
Andy’s companies touched a range of industries such as information, software, consulting and materials science. He was directly involved in over $180 million of venture transactions and three of these companies were bought by industry leaders. Andy worked successfully with prominent venture firms such as Trident Capital, Advent International, Safeguard Scientific, Draper Triangle, and Birchmere. He has also raised funding from leading leverage buyout companies including Vestar and corporate VCs such as Samsung and Applied Materials.
Prior to Othot, Andy was the Co-Founder and CEO of Plextronics, a global materials science company.
John Abbatico, Technololgy Architect
John is responsible for architecting the products and software platform for Othot. He was the CTO of Hiperos, a comprehensive solution in the 3rd party management space and still provides advisory services to them. Prior to co-founding Hiperos, John was a director of innovations at SAP. In this role, he oversaw a 40-person team of local and offshore resources and served as a field CTO working alongside customers and sales to develop new solutions for the SAP portfolio. Before joining SAP, John was vice president of solutions at Venafi, where he was instrumental in assisting the CEO in positioning the company for an asset sale.
Prior to Venafi, John spent more than five years with Ariba, where he assisted in the development of several new products for Ariba including its contract management solution. John previously spent six years at Oracle, and started his software engineering career at General Electric designing cutting-edge nuclear propulsion systems.
John has Bachelor of Science Degrees in Physics and Nuclear Engineering from Penn State University. He also completed course work toward a master’s degree in computer science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Jeremy Garvey, Operations Architect
Jeremy is responsible for the overall operations of Othot. He has more than 20 years of experience working with, counseling and advising early-stage growth companies.
He has a BA from Colgate University and JD from the University of Pennsylvania.
DATA SCIENCE ARCHITECT
Mark Voortman, Ph.D., Data Science Architect
Mark is responsible for overseeing and building the data science engines that power Othot’s predictive analytics platform to answer High Impact Questions (HIQs). The data science team has developed the Othot Data Science Language (ODSL) that is used to process the data with the goal to obtain actionable insights. ODSL is specified in JSON and most of the implementation is written in Python and consists of a collection of preprocessing utilities and machine learning algorithms that enable predictive and prescriptive analytics.
He is also visiting assistant professor of information technology at Point Park University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in programming, databases, business analytics and other courses in the IT and MBA programs. He is responsible for designing and implementing a new IT program that launched in the fall of 2015 and is aimed at software development, mobile applications, big data, and analytics.
Mark obtained his MS and BS from Delft University of Technology and his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. While Mark pursued his PhD he made several significant contributions to the GeNIe and SMILE software that is developed by the Decision Systems Laboratory and is used by universities and companies all over the world, including well-known names such as Intel, Oracle, Boeing, and HRL laboratories. The software can be used to build or learn models for decision making including diagnostics, prognostics and causal analysis. Mark’s main focus was on implementing algorithms that can deduce causal relationships from data. The main advantage of these models is that uncovered causal relations can be used to make predictions about interventions in a system, such as the implications of policy decisions.
His passion is in building intelligent systems that solve important problems. His skills range from analyzing data science problems to designing and implementing technical solutions to solve them.

Robert Dimaggio, Vice President, Product
Bob is a self-pronounced tech geek experienced in solving large, difficult problems and leading the creation of complex software products. He especially enjoys working on data-heavy products with complex architectures and requirements.
Before Othot, Bob built products in the defense contracting, social gaming, internet video distribution, financial services, file sharing and backup, and e-commerce industries. He is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as an MBA from CMU’s Tepper School of Business.

Anthony Garuccio, Senior Data Scientist
Anthony has data science expertise in the industries of insurance, financial services, consulting, consumer package goods, and scientific research. He holds a BS in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh as well as a Masters in Computational Mathematics from Duquesne University.

Dave Babst- VP, Sales, Marketing + Customer Success
Dave is responsible for leading the Customer Success function at Othot. Throughout his 15+ year career, Dave has led large strategic efforts and customer-driven initiatives including go-to-market planning, sales strategy, service model definition, mergers and acquisitions, and business planning within digital/technology-driven organizations and financial institutions.
Dave has a JD and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, a BA in Business from the University of Richmond, and an Executive certification from the Institute of Design at Stanford University.
Mark Stefanik, Higher Education Account Executive
Mark has more than 15 years’ experience in educational technology and software across multiple different platforms, including learning management systems and digital curricula. Mark specializes in helping schools and universities design and evaluate programs that impact student success. Prior to joining Othot, Mark was Business Development Manager for Lexipol, a digital training and policy management system for public safety.
Mark was also a Regional Sales Manager for multiple leading technology companies including CompassLearning, Schoology, ePals and Apangea Learning.
Chris Dufour, Higher Education Account Executive
Chris comes to Othot from the Online Learning Consortium, where he sold memberships and professional development products to faculty, staff, and administrators. Chris has spent his entire professional career in the higher education market, serving as academic adviser, admissions counselor, conference planner, program developer, and as an education, strategy and planning manager.
He has his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo; his Masters from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY; and a PhD in Education from Penn State.
Gina Fleitman, Marketing Director, Higher Education
Gina manages marketing communications to the higher education market. She comes to Othot from the curriculum side, where she worked with Provosts, Academic Deans, and instructional designers to reduce student costs, increase student engagement and improve academic outcomes by revising their course content strategy to make greater use of digital materials.
She has 30+ years’ experience in sales and marketing and holds a BS from Carnegie-Mellon University.
These models utilize customer data sets, Othot data repositories, and data from external sources that Ashton helps to pull from by writing scripts in Python. Ashton received her B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Robert Morris University. Ashton utilizes her background in statistics when analyzing the output of the models through a series of performance measures. These measures involve descriptive statistics, performance plots, and confusion matrices that in combination work to evaluate the accuracy and output of the model.
Once the output is validated, Ashton works with Othot team members to communicate actionable results to customers in a way that is easy to comprehend.
When she’s not busy working for Othot, she is studying Business Information Systems at the University of Pittsburgh and implementing those skills in her daily work. In a recent project partnering with Pitt Athletics, she aided in the development of a model to help the department identify specific markets and customers in order to increase ticket sales.
Through this opportunity, she gained an appreciation for the potential of data analytics and the positive impacts it can have on a company’s day to day operations.
She works closely with the data science team to analyze and interpret results for business use.
Alexis is leading the charge for business analytics education and opportunities for students at the University of Pittsburgh as a founder and the current president of LEAP (League of Emerging Analytics Professionals). She is currently studying Marketing with focus on business strategy and analytics, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in April 2017.
He uses APIs to fetch data from the web to optimize models, and interacts with the Product Team to identify useful data attributes to acquire. He is knowledgeable about Python, Java and Spanish with respective fluency decreasing in that order.
Jack Phillips, Analytics Advisor
Jack is also co-founder, along with Tom Davenport, of the IIA, the analytics industry’s leading research and insights firm and editor of Enterprise Analytics: Optimize Performance, Process and Decisions Through Big Data.
Jack specializes in spotting emerging job functions, and building successful information publishing and research firms to help those professionals make better decisions.
Prior to joining IIA, Jack held operating and founding roles at the Institute for Applied Network Security (recent private sale), CCBN (acquired by Thomson/Reuters), ISI Emerging Markets (acquired by Euromoney, PLC), and INFONXX (now kgb USA).
Jack began his career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York, and at the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan in Tokyo, and held senior operating positions at various McGraw-Hill business units before becoming an information publishing entrepreneur.
Jack is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Williams College, and lives with his wife and three children in Portland, Oregon.
Leo Hannah, Financial Director
Leo is responsible for various administrative and quality control functions of the Firm. He concentrates his practice in accounting and auditing for closely held businesses and fraternal benefit societies as well as management consulting for mergers and acquisitions.
His industry specialties include manufacturing, technology, and construction. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
Leo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Penn State and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
MARKETING ANALYTICS EXPERT
Kannan Srinivasan, Ph.D., Marketing Analytics Expert
Kannan advises Othot on the scalability of customer solutions. He is H.J. Heinz II Professor of Management, Marketing and Business Technologies at the Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University.
He has extensively researched, published and consulted on data analytics. He has published over seventy papers in leading academic journals in business and statistics. His work focuses on two streams: (1) Development of appropriate models to analyze data, and (2) Analyzing large databases to gain business insights.
His most recent research work analyzes both structured and unstructured data. The study extracts and exploits text information in billions of tweets and billions of web pages.
SOCIAL MEDIA ANALYTICS EXPERT
Chris advises and helps design the integration of social media into the Othot predictive analytics platform. He serves as CEO and Board Member of MedPricer, an eSourcing services and technology company that helps healthcare providers save money on goods and services.
Chris brings extensive experience building and operating organizations focused on Open Source Internet Big Data and Intelligence in both automated and managed services modes. In addition to this experience, Chris has served in an executive leadership role in six venture or private equity backed software and cloud technology companies across a wide array of industries and organizational sizes including McKinsey, GE and FreeMarkets. Chris is passionate about applying new technology to solve business problems.
Chris holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy for the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
